A fun food survey

I found a cool food survey on 28 Cooks, one of my favorite food blogs. :)

Now this is a fun game!

So I saw this on Very Good Taste and thought it looked like fun, so I'm playing a long. It's a list of 100 food items that this blogger feels should be eaten by everyone. I was surprised by how much I've eaten off of this list.

If you'd like to play along:
1) Copy this list into your blog or journal, including these instructions.
2) Bold all the items you’ve eaten.
3) Cross out any items that you would never consider eating.
4) Optional extra: Post a comment at www.verygoodtaste.co.uk linking to your results.

OK, my strike though isn't working, and I don't remember the HTML code for it, so I changed the color.

Ugly Bathroom

This winter/spring, Drew and I spent an enormous amount of money at Lowe's redoing our kitchen. We chose to do it at this time because there were a bunch of sales, and a 10% bonus on whatever bathroom and kitchen items you purchased. So we now have some Lowe's gift cards in our possession that need to be spent. We plan on buying a new front door with the money, and had initially wanted to pay for installation of the door as well. Welllll, after crunching the numbers of a new door + screen door + prof. installation, we realized it was too much money. We'd be better off if Drew and I just installed the door. Installing doors sucks. It takes a lot of time and patience to make sure it's balanced. The current door was not balanced properly, and closes on it's own. Thankfully, we've hung doors before and can do it, just neither of us really WANTS to. But we will.

So after a door purchase, I think it'll leave enough money left over that I can somewhat update our bathroom. This bathroom is just gross. It's old and I just don't like it. We're not going to have enough money to level out the step and re-plumb the shower/toilet for a while, so I have to make do with what we have. I have been thinking that I would like to rip out the current "closet" (I took the doors off a while back because the smoke smell was just saturating everything), and put in some wire-adjustable- shelving. I like those and I know it seems industrial, but I like them anyway. So, I'd want to do that, and I was thinking of sanding down the vanity and painting it some other color than what it is now. There's also a lady at work that said I can paint the top with some kind of whatever and it'll stay on the linoleum counter top. I'm going to have to look into buying some of that.- I wonder if I can get black? I was also thinking about changing out the sink faucet, and buying a new towel rack since ours is falling off every time you touch it.

So those are my thoughts. I haven't gone to price any of this out to see if it's even doable with the gift cards we have, but I thought I'd try. I'll post some pics of the ugliness. :)

The lovely sink, and our beautiful linoleum tile- LOVE IT!

We're classy

La Toilette

The linen closet that doesn't have doors cause of smoke smell issues- it still stinks, but not as bad.

The sink- Maybe black top, white base, like the kitchen? My hardwood floors look SO good though!

We should also get a "laundry room" door of some kind, but since it's oddly sized, it's hard to get anything standard, and custom ordered is a beast. ugggghhhh

So yeah, any thoughts?

Pre-organized classroom

This was my room pre-me working on it for 60+ hours this week. :) I couldn't get the pics off my phone until my screen was fixed, and then I forgot about them. So here they are.

Nasty brown chalk boards. ugh.

You know you RAWK when you think educational t-shirts are awesome!

I was at the library picking up some much anticipated book reading today and saw a shirt at the library for $8 that said catch the book worm, and it had a worm on it. I found it rather amusing. If I had had $8 on me, I would have bought one. I chuckled to myself after the realization came into my head of- 'I need that for work!' hahaha

I left work at noon today. I have some laminated things to cut out, but other than real curriculum, that we don't necessarily even start for a few days, I feel pretty ready. My classroom is as clean as it's going to get, and I have my list of things to go over in the first week. I feel ready.

I came home, exercised, showered and went to say hello to Kristi over at Oakdale. I'm so glad she's in the district with me. I get lonely being the only nooob sometimes.

I took pictures of my classroom this morning. I'll post a few here for your looking pleasure.

I'm excited to have a weekend. I want to go to farmers market tomorrow and get watermelon and corn. I love good corn, but not nasty corn. :) duh. hahaha

Ok, without further ado- picture fest!

I have made myself a little office. :D

The view of my classroom from my desk

My FAVORITE part of starting the school year- AND I got to do it on a very brand new white board!

My cutie bulletin board outside

I guess this is another angle.

And last, but definitely NOT least, my fixed LCD screen, HOORAY!!!! As you can see, I was uploading pics as I did this. hehehehe

YAHOOO!!!!

I GOT MY NEW LCD SCREEN!!!!! It's so bright and shiny and NEW! I was able to install it all by myself - Drew wanted to help, so I let him put all the screws back in ;) I have my computer back- MY LIFE back! :D :D :D

I will take pictures tomorrow when it is not dark out. (my cpu is saying that isn't isn't a word?) - ANYWAYSES, I ordered it from this place up in Seattle around noon yesterday. They dropped it off around 12:30pm TODAY- BUT I wasn't home, so Drew and I went and picked it up from the UPS warehouse this evening around 8pm. I am surprised and shocked, and just all around so happy happy that they were able to get it here SO FAST!!! I would definitely order from them again. Unfortunately, I ordered it at work, and don't remember the name of the place, so I'll have to write that in later. I would *HIGHLY* recommend them if anyone ever has to get a screen. I called up their store and talked to a really nice guy that was willing to put the screen in for me, and troubleshoot if that wasn't the problem if I felt weary about my purchase. I decided to go ahead and buy a new screen anyway, and I'm glad I did. :)

In other news, I spent 10 solid hours on my classroom today. I think I'm finally making some progress. I covered one of the ugly brown chalk boards with purple paper and it lifted my mood a ton. I was amazed. Now I just have to figure out how to do my language arts time. Well, and tidy up some more, but FINALLY things are becoming more settled, and I'm just a little less stressed. Pictures of the room will soon follow as well. :)

8. Did you ever get suspended or expelled? Nah, but I sure sat in the principals office having "chats" often enough.

9. Can you still sing the fight song? Watermelon, watermelon, Skyline,......JOIN TOGETHER! hahaha that's all I know.

10. Who were your favorite teachers? Uhhhh.....I didn't much care for high school. Chaz was cool. I wonder if he's still alive?

11. Where did you sit for lunch? ? Like I seriously remember? At a circle table? OH and this ONE year! We insisted that Anne Marie Bernshaw be our friend, so we alienated her til she gave in. teeheehee- she was awesome!

20. Are you planning on going to your 10 year reunion? Hell nah, that's a waste of time. Besides, I've found the cool people online, and already know where my other friends were from the getgo.

Who do I tag? Meh, whomever.

Oh dangs, I got tauged!

I got tagged. And I like random survey crap- so here it goes!

If you get tagged, you have to list 10 things that make you happy. What are the things that tickle your fancy, make you smile or still give you that butterfly sensation. What things do you seek out and truly enjoy. The only rule is that you can't say your kids or your spouse...it's too easy.

1. The ocean- I never dreamed that I would love something so much. I could literally sit out there and look at the waves coming in all day. I actually remembered that last Labor Day weekend, Drew and I went out to the coast and set up a tent so Drew could read in it while I sat right next to the water and read some random book. That was probably one of the BESTEST days ever. It was beautiful

2. My bed- I would have never said this before Mexico, but now, every time I look/lay on my bed, I get a little happiness inside that it's so nice and comfortable.

3. My Sisters - I agree with you Shel- Although, sometimes, they're just down right retarded, I still love them and like hearing their stories. :D

4. My computer and all it entails- Drew told me the last week in Mexico that if my computer died and I didn't have access to another one, that my life source would quickly deplete. I thrive on it and don't seem to be happy without my daily dose of nets. -I'm just that geeky. hehehe

5. When I can find Kangaroos on Ebay for super cheap! I haven't bought new shoes in probably a year, but man, when I do, that is some exciting times! I love those guys!

6. Finishing exercising- especially if it was difficult to get started in the first place- to know that I accomplished something good for me is a wonderful feeling. I thrive on those endorphins.

7. LexyLoo- I must love her to pieces, cause man has she been a pain in my backside. That cat deserves the gold medal of annoyingness. But she sure does make me smile. Especially when she tries to eat my cupcake!

8. Reading - me too! - love it, love it, love it! I was just mentioning to Michele how I don't have a book to read right now and it's kind of weird. Crazy

9. The thought that someday I will hopefully become a mommy makes me pretty happy. I feel like I've waited patiently for a very long time, and I'm hoping that with all my educational background, I can give future children a pretty developmentally appropriate upbringing. LOL now I sound all interviewey. hahaha

10. Remodeling. I love the mass destruction. Love it! I like being able to take something ugly/old and transform it into something beautiful and clean. I know I complain about it, and it's hard work, but it's definitely worth the struggle.

I now tag: whoever wants to do it. :P

RIP cutie vaio

I don't have any pictures. My computer has completely kicked the bucket. I'm using Drew's cpu til I get a new LCD screen. The actual cpu is just fine, but something is wrong with the screen. It fades out and goes gray, and won't show an image anymore. Drew took it apart- I don't think it'll work again. Dangit. So, tomorrow, after my insanely long meeting, I'm going to call up a few places, make sure I'm getting the correct screen, and order a new one, even though it might come back to bite me in the butt money wise.

We bought a different car yesterday. I say different cause it's no where near new, and I have no love or excitement for it at all, other than the fact that the back end isn't smooshed into the back seat. I'll get some pics up soon.

So, considering my pride and joy and life source computer is dead, and dealing with a new car member of the family, things are going quite well. Tomorrow, school starts up for me. Kids are in another week, but inservice is this week. I'm excited to get back to my normal routine, just so I can get back to exercising. Oh, and I put the treadmill back in its bedroom last night- I feel so happy about it. Now I just need my tv stand back so I can be entertained while I jack up my knee some more. :)

In need of a pedicure

We haven't heard any news on our car yet. Well, we have heard from OUR insurance, but not from the other guy's insurance. Fine, whatever. We'll continue to butt heads with ours about the price of our car.

I went to my classroom yesterday. All I can say is whoa. This is going to be hard to get together. Good thing for weekends I suppose. There's no way I'll get this done during inservice week. Ugh.

I have pictures, but I think I'll wait til I'm done to post them- so there's a beginning, middle, and hopefully someday, an end.

I did get a whiteboard installed yesterday. I have a long strip of chalkboard, the whiteboard, and then some more chalk board on the other side. It's quite tacky. If I stay in this room next year, anyone want to help me paint? It needs new paint SO badly. I HATE green. Not pretty grass/limey green, but school green is just throwuppy.

SO yeah. That's about it. More to come. P.S. I really like wearing hoodies and pullovers everyday with shorts and flipflops. This definitely beats out Mexico any day!

What's better than a broken car?

Why a broken computer, AND a broken car, that's what! Check out my awesome, high tech machinery skills! As you can see, it's out of its frame, and dangling there- BUT at least the screen works, I just can't move it.

Home, safe and somewhat sound

Just thought I'd let y'all know, smoking kills. :) Thanks Duty Free!

Let me tells you about yesterday. I was all giddy excited to go home, being all patient, what have you. The guy comes to pick us up and BRINGS HIS SON! We could barely fit our luggage and 3 people last time, let alone a 7 year old. So Drew and he hugged in the backseat all the way to the airport.

About halfway there, I look to the left of the cars coming down a pretty steep, very curvy decline, and see an empty semi sliding horizontally down the hill and eventually make his way into hitting the side fence, this in little incident knocks a motorcycle driver off his bike. I thankfully she him get up and run to the side so he doesn't get hit by unsuspecting oncoming cars. Just plain scary. I sat there thinking how thankful I was that, that hadn't happened to me.

So we get on the airplane after a couple hours of waiting. Apparently, the international terminal at LAX is being redone, so we landed domestic, got shuttled over to the international area to pick up baggage and go through customs there, and then had to walk back around again to go to Portland. We waited around for that for not very long and took off.
This is us in the Mexico airport- see the excitement?!?!

We didn't get to deplane like normal people, we got to go out the back door, AND go down a ramp!
Me being happy - we made it back to the good ole U S of A!

We landed in PDX and waited for Ryan to pick us up. Drew was SO excited to drive- it was pretty cute. So let's see, ~5-10 miles out of Salem, we're all chatting and Drew, being so excited to be driving had commented on how well he's driving the speed limit, and then goes, oh crap, hold on, and accelerated. I didn't know what he was doing, I was playing with my phone, had my feet up on the dashboard and all of the sudden. WHACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some guy out of nowhere rear ended up while we're going 65 mph on the FREEWAY with NO ONE else in sight! WTF?! We pull over thinking they were probably drunk or fleeing cops or something, and I figured the person was long gone. To my surprise, the guy pulled in behind us!!! I was all, WHAT DID YOU DO THAT FOR!!! And he goes, I'm sorry, I didn't see you guys. I'm all HOW COULD YOU NOT SEE A CAR IN THE MIDDLE LANE GOING THE SPEED LIMIT?!?! UGH! And he's all, I don't know, I'm sorry. So Drew calls 911 gets the ambulance and popo's there cause Ryan was a bit discombobulated. They checked him out, he seemed to be ok, but definitely got the brunt of the hit since he's tall and was in the back seat.

The cop got everyone's info and as we're going to leave, our battery DIES! The cop had to come jump us, while Drew called our insurance. He got off the phone and said, I wish I hadn't called them. Dang. I sure hope our insurance doesn't go up much for this- it wasn't our fault.

So anyway, we are all safe, have pretty bad whiplash, but I think all the organs are intact. The back of our car is totally destroyed. It shoved part of the left framing stuff up so we can barely shut the back door. We had to get our luggage out, and so now we can't shut the trunk....again...

So we're in a state of now what? At what point do they consider our car totaled vs. repairable? It's drivable, but not for the state of Oregon since the trunk issue is serious in rain.

My house is a total and utter mess. I don't think the floors have been mopped for 8 weeks. The bathroom reeked of cat urine so badly that at 3am, I was changing it. Lexy has lost TWO pounds since we've been gone - keep in mind this cat is healthy at 9 pounds- to lose 2 pounds in 2 months is severe. Which means she hasn't been getting her medicine. I'm not too happy about the state of things, but I guess at least my house isn't burnt to the ground, right?

I guess all in all- the guy had insurance- if his insurance doesn't pay for our car to get fixed, ours will. Our house is standing and my cat is still alive. We all survived getting hit at high speeds and our car didn't even spin or anything. I'm thankful for Drew for being a cautious driver and knew how to take the impact. Things could have gone so much worse, but they didn't.

I have some pictures to post, but we rigged a phone charger for Ryan since he didn't have his on him last night. I'll get them posted at some point.

I love you all, and thanks for reading!

Our car, gone the way of the dodo.

Friday #9 - The LAST post from Mexico!!

Everyone keeps asking me if I'm sad to leave, and although I should probably be more kind and considerate, I say no. And I have no regrets! Sure, this place has taught me that I don't always get what I want, and sometimes I'm not a pro at everything- quite a humbling thing! But I am definitely ready to go home- more so than 8 weeks ago! I'm just more in check of my emotions.- that's a good thing, right?

Let's see, what else. I tweaked out my left headphone, so currently, it's working. I swear, I really don't treat my electronics this poorly, they just break on their own. I PROMISE!

Nothing else to report on. I get to pack everything tonight- hope and pray that if I bought you something that it doesn't break! I have no faith in the airline baggage system.

Los Fotos de Personas and Coke

I forgot to mention an interesting thing at the movies yesterday. They had a commercial for some Ciel water made by CocaCola, and it was interesting cause they showed the guy going to work on a train and two men in dress shirts and pants were talking to him, and at the end of that little scene they give him a book that closely resembled a book of mormon. Then at the end, they had all the people he came in contact with dancing around, and they had the "elders" there as well with their side backpack things and everything- the only thing they didn't have was their little badges. I thought that was interesting.

Then, here are some pictures Drew so kindly took of people we come in contact with A LOT! We're missing several people, but these are some of the main ones I guess.

Pilar, Drew, Me, and Gisela

Estafania

Horacio with his daughters (LtoR) Barbara, Rita, Lucy

Horacio and Lidia

Don't know their names- they're the security guards. We're missing one, but I haven't seen him in a few days.

Alex with maestro Filemon

Thursday #9 HUZZAH!

I only have 2 more hours of class tomorrow and I am through with you Mexico!!!!!!!!! Well, minus the mind numbing late night activities, it's not too bad! Even the mindnumbing activities aren't that bad, I just have to go through the routine, and the closer it gets to leaving, the more anxious I am to pack up everything and what not. Must. Go. Home.!!!

A girl that was sitting by me at this table (I decided to hang out in the cafeteria area today so I wasn't inside all day) and she asked if I minded if she smoked - I'm thankful she asked- cause I said, actually, I do, if you don't mind. I have a hard time with cigarette smoke. It's called it's disgusting!

Not much else is going on. We did go see The Mummy 3 last night. It was terrible. Cool special effects, but they just didn't make up for how trashy the movie was. Everything was just so forced. No me gusta la pelicula.

Today, we aren't doing anything, pretty lazy day.

Wednesday #8 - Almost there!

Last night, we went and got some gifteroos at the zocalo market. Michele, I'm sorry, I forgot to take the camera until we were almost there. I feel bad. It looks like all the other pictures though. We had to take some more money out for them, but I like what we got. So if someone doesn't like their gift, they can regift it, and give it to me :D

uhm, Not much else is going on. Going to halfprice movie night is up in the air since we are so short on money. If we do go, we'll go see the Mummy, so it really ends up being how badly do we really want to see it, or is playing games on the comp. a better idea? We shall see.

Drew's been getting some pics of the teachers he likes or has had, and then once he's done I'll upload them. So just be patient.

That's about it, nothing too exciting going on...I didn't sleep well, so my happyenergies are no where to be found. At least I'm done with class today- THAT'S a good thing!

Tuesday #8

Today's classes were much better than yesterday. The girl I was put with yesterday asked to be moved so she could learn future tense Spanish, which leaves me to be by myself. Which was great! I get to start an hour later, and we go at my speed, not someone else's. So when I don't understand Pronombre indirectos, pronombre directos, and something else I don't understand, but anyway, when I don't understand I can ask and get it explained. So it's a good thing.

Today, I think we're going to head up the the zocalo market again for the last time. Nothing else is really going on though. Things have gotten pretty slow and lazy. I like slow and lazy, but not when I want the next few days to go faster. We only have 96.5 hours to go though! That counts for something!

Oh, and Drew has temporarily fixed my computer. We have a large clamp/paperclip holding the top cornder so it doesn't fuzz out. It looks like I'm going to have to get my screen replaced though. I'm not too happy about that since it's a few hundred dollars. Hopefully my clamp will hold out til we can save up some money? Bummer....

Sunday #8, Monday #8

We have NO MORE SUNDAYS OR MONDAYS HERE!!! It's a celebration! Rundown of Sunday: We didn't do diddly. It was great. Drew and I played Texas hold em on the CPU's for quite a number of hours. I also watched the rest of Mary Poppins and Goonies. Horacio's daughters came over for dinner - I'm glad we got to see them again before we take off. Uhm, nothing else really- it was a pretty decent downer of a day.

Today, I have a new teacher. She is horrid. She got all pissy at me cause I didn't pluralize something, and so I said, but in THIS sentence, it isn't pluralized, so why would I pluralize it? And she looks at it again, and says, oh, sorry. I HATE when people do that to me. It's like, either read the sentence or don't say anything. There was also a HORRIBLE sentence example: You were studying medicine, but you got married. ?!?!!? SERIOUSLY!?? What kind of SHIZZZZZZZZ is that? The other student in class thought it was perfectly good, and I *know* it's just an example, but it's a horrible example. Hi, my name is maddy, I'm going to medical school. Joeblow:Hey maddy, I think you're cute, wanna get married? Maddy: Ok, getting married is SO MUCH WORK, I better crush my hopes and dreams and throw them in the toilet without toilet paper and get married, WHAT A GREAT IDEA!

pshaw!

OK, so otherwise, I'm not doing so hot in my class, I don't get it, and the teacher doesn't have the patience to explain it to me, and she talks too fast, so even if she did, I can't understand her. I have 12 more hours of this crap and I can leave. :D So I'm going to hold on to dear life. I will be a "good" student. ^-^

We don't have any plans today. Lidia is heading up to D.F. again today, we told her not to worry about us for dinner, that if we were at home, we'd just eat cereal. I think she's planning on having the maids feed us. I don't like when she does that. Maybe we can go out and eat something. Oh, and i Have some pictures, but since my cpu is on the fritz, I'm lucky I've gotten this far with typing, I'm not going to upload pics til we get home I think, cause I am uberly frustrated with my laptop and might just kill it if I have to fix my screen one more time today.

So yeah, that's about it. I come home in 120 hours!

Saturday #8

Hot diggity! I get to come home at this time next week! So excited!

We came over to the school to do some internetting today. I guess the English school was on vacation last week, cause there's a whole bunch of Mexicans here learning English. I'm glad to be able to get into the building, but I do like sitting in the cafeteria area and would be down there if one of the teachers didn't have their cpu plugged into the one and only plug down there.

Today, we don't have anything planned. I thought about maybe going up to the market again in a dire attempt to find something for Drew's brothers for Christmas. That has become a much harder task than I ever thought imaginable. Oh well.

I also thought about maybe going to a movie or two today. I want to see the Mummy 3, that journey to the center of the earth, and Step Brothers. I guess we'll see what happens. We're here for another 2 hours, then back to the house to sit for about an hour, and then food time. I guess we'll see how hot, or rainy it is by then.

I got about 8 mosquito bites yesterday. 3 of them are right on my inner ankle of my left foot. Last night I remember waking up scratching it, and this morning I realized they were there and cringed at what I had done to my foot. I put some hydrocortizone cream on them this morning and I'm trying really hard to not touch it. Stupid mosquitoes.

I guess that's about it for now. Sorry there aren't new pictures, this place is getting kind of boring to look at.

Friday #8 - yay!

Only one more Friday and then we're OUTTA HERE!!!

I finished Jane Eyre last night = GREAT book - I *highly* recommend it. Short, sweet, and straight to the point. And it had an Edward, how could it NOT be good?!

We didn't do anything else last night. I downloaded Black and White, so Drew played that for a good portion of the night. I didn't realize how old that game is, cause the graphics are horrible. It made me want to play Tropico- I wish I had brought more games down here to play rather than just Sim City 4, and Sims for my laptop. Oh well.- Only 7 more days, right?

Tomorrow, I don't think we're going to do much of anything. We're going to come over to the school and internet it up til it closes at 2, and afterward, probably nothing since there's no more monies, and the school is going to Xochicalco on Saturday and Taxco on Sunday- both of which we've already done, so it's pointless to go again. Once you've seen one pyramid, you've seen them all. How snotty is that? HAHA

So here I come next week - bing it on! Oh, and I'm totally done with taking classes mentally. I just don't seem to care any more. - not that I cared all that much to begin with, but at least I was trying. Now it's a plug and play- if I know the formula of the sentence, I do it, otherwise it's pointless. I'm just done. I'm ready to go home. I'm also kind of done with the whole formal dinner every day thing. I'm excited to go home and eat on the couch if I feel like it. :D Crap, I'd even eat on the bed by this point!

Thursday- just pics

Me, looking sickly while I chow down! at Mexican McDonalds

Drew snarfing some fries!
GIANT marshmallows that I wants!
Mexican Costco that is NEVER busy
Drew with his favorite mexican celebrity; Julio of Mega! LOL

Thursday #8!! Yahoo!

Alls I can say is that I'm excited to be going back to home, getting back into my routine and enjoying my life. I'm excited to eat lemon bars and to sleep in my bed. :)

Yesterday, we went to the market and bought some xmas gifts and a whole bunch of cds and a dvd for really cheap! We bought Se Busca - I guess it's Wanted in English? with Angeline Jolie. Trust me, if you haven't seen it, don't. It's not worth it. It's impractical and impossible and totally stupid. Worse than that Tom Cruise movie where they can see into the future about other people committing crimes. Just stupid. Wait til it's on cable and watch while you're doped out on cough medicine or something- something to make it better. hahahaha

Uhm, we went to Mega (Like target), and Costco and walked back home. It was a pretty decent day. :)

Oh, I also had a nightmare last night about work and being out of control of that area of my life. Guess I should start thinking about what to do with 2nd graders, eh?

Wednesday #7

Lidia has to go to a notary up in Mexico City today, so we told her not to fix us comida- that we would do our own thing. So we're going to go up to Costco, Mega and make our way over to Burger King to get some crowns with mexican on them so I can laminate them and use them for birthdays at school. How cool is that?

Not much else is going on. Maybe we'll mosey over to the market today. I need to go to the grocery store to get some shampoo and conditioner. We bought some in Acapulco since we forgot ours here in Cuernavaca, and in my drunken stooped of sickness, I left them in the shower for the maids. Dang stoopers.

Tuesday #7

I only have 1 more monday, one more sunday, and one more tuesday left. I am SOOO uberly excited. I can't tell you how much I'm ready to be done with this place. I just don't want to do it anymore. It reminds me of the last 2 weeks of teaching, where we don't get a dang thing done without pulling teeth. I feel like one of my students. I'm glad I didn't pressure them into much that last 2 weeks- it would have been suicide.

So not much else is new here. We're almost done with Breaking Dawn. I think Drew is still wanting to go to Tepotzlan this weekend since 6 Flags is out. I don't care if we go. I want to head up to the zocalo and market one last time to get a cd and hopefully some stuff for xmas for drew's brothers.

Yeah, I guess that's about it. I am ready to go home and eat lemon bars.

Sunday #6, Monday #6

11 more days, *Happy dance* 11 more days!!!

Yesterday, we didn't do a darn thing. It rained all morning, so we didn't go to church. Wet streets = wet people = angry, angry maddy and drew. It was much better to just stay home. Also, Drew wasn't feeling well, so we just chillaxed all day.

I got through 3/4 of Jane Eyre. I am loving that book. I am loving that it is so old, yet Jane is such a strong willed individual. It is wonderful. I hope it turns out just as well.

I almost have all of Breaking Dawn downloaded, so I know what Drew and I are doing tonight!

Nothing else too exciting. Lidia's nephews are gone, sierra is gone. It was very quiet yesterday!

Saturday #6

Our plans got squashed, right in our faces. Museum in Mexico no more. Apparently, not enough people signed up for it- so our money was refunded and nothing to do.

I got to page 171 last night when Drew came down- he wanted to read it too, so we started over and got through the first book. I'm still scavenging for the last 2 pages of chapter 14 and the rest of the book. I have a copy sitting in my beautiful home so I know I'll at least get the stuff once I'm home, but I'm hoping some kindly sole will let me in on the secrets....or at least reread the spoilers that have already been given. :)

So we're hanging out at the school today, Drew wants to go swimming so he wore his suit, but I have some issues with the pool here, so I think I'll just put my feet in.

Sierra left this morning. Apparently, she was still drunk as snot when she got up this morning and Lydia said something to the extent that she was like a cockroach and lydia was going to spray her with raid. It made me laugh. But now the house seems empty and I'm sad. I can do this, right?

Friday #7 Things that make you go hmmmmm

I could really go for some cookies about now. We didn't bring any, and we're kind of done spending monies. Daaanggggg, guess I'll have to wait.

Lucy bummed out on us for our trip to Tepozlan on Saturday. Which, in reality, isn't a bad thing. The school is doing an excursion to Mexico City to see the oldest and largest Cathedral in America, 2 other places, and the Anthropology Museum. It's expensive, and we've way overspent our money here. Good thing food and bills can be paid with credit cards is all I'm saying! But I really love museums, and think that going would outweigh the financial struggle it'll put us in.- cause you know, it's only money, and I get paid in October - so it's not THAT big of a deal, right?!

A TON of people are leaving tomorrow. The community college from Colorado and Wisconsin are both going - I'd say it's a good 50-6o people. YES! It will be interesting to see if any other large groups come. - I doubt it though since summer is winding down. Thankfully I know of at least 4 of us that will be here for at least the next 2 weeks. I always have this fear of being alone. hahaha

Let's see, what else..... Oh, for dinner last night - this dinner always makes me laugh. It's pot roast+potatoes+carrots with all the traditional mexican dinner fixings (rice, beans tortillas). So what do you do with this? Well I'll tell you! You cut up all your meat, potatoes, beans, put them all in a tortilla with your rice and beans and EAT it! hahaha Oh man, it's hysterical! I usually don't eat the tortillas, but still do the whole mixing of my foods into a pile. It's quite the interesting combination of flavors. I always want to take a picture of my food, but always feel a bit self-conscious and reluctant to do so, so I don't.

So there you have it, I think that's about it for the day.

OH! I did finish Messenger yesterday. Well, started it and finished it. I've decided that maybe I don't necessarily care for Lois Lowry. Things happen in her books that I don't necessarily enjoy. I loved the CONCEPT of The Giver, but didn't like the ending. I enjoyed the CONCEPT of Gathering Blue + Messenger, I just don't like how the story unraveled. Oh well. At least I still have Stephenie Meyer! hahaha
