I'm in lurv!

Oh my sweet hunny did the awesomest thing in the whole wide world. He got me COOKIES! Cookies you say? Biiiig deal! but you would be wrong! When we lived down in Salt Lake, we lived like a mini walk away from Paradise Cafe and would go buy their cookies all the time. The only Paradise Cafe is almost in Portland, and we have gone there ONCE since we moved her- once it moved in next to the New Balance store a bit ago. Well, he pulled some strings, and yesterday, after school he had a surprise for me!

What a sweet gesture! Love me some paradise cafe cookies! Thank you hunnnnny!!!

Also, funny story. You know the saying, 'You catch more flies with hunny than sugar?' well, apparently our balsamic vinegar is delicious because I found a fruit fly in our vinegar bottle today when I was looking for some soup. Guess that's the last time I buy expensive vinegar.- we had bought produce from Safeway a bit ago and it came loaded with fruit flies. It took a small miracle to get rid of those suckers, and now we refuse to buy produce there. Just disgusting.

Well, tomorrow is the big day! I'm hoping for a puppy. I hope I get what I want!

Oh my sweet kitty, and CUPPY CAKES!

This weekend, Drew and I realized that we are bad parents, and don't brush hair well. Lexy seemed to have accumulated a giant mat on her chest overnight. (yeah, probably a few weeks)- but we needed it gone. The vet in town was quoting us $50 and up for the cut, plus $75-$100 for sedation. I literally yelled WHOA! in the phone! We called up our vet and was quoted $25 less for sedation. Drew ended up calling his bro up that shaves kitties all the time, and he OFFERED to do it, we just had to buy the clippers. Drew and I ran over to Petco, picked up some fancy brush/cutter thing, Ryan came over, and Drew and Ryan did their magic on my little girl! Lexy was so proud/distraught over her fur, that she wanted to sit by it for a while. So we took pictures. :D ---side note: you can tell her evil-ness factor by the red eyes. ^.^

Also, tomorrow is Birthday Wednesday at work. I was unable to bring treats last time it was my turn since I had some lame meeting to go to, AND this week (tomorrow)- I have yet ANOTHER lame meeting to go to. I decided that I would make some stuff anyway since I don't have to scoot until a little after lunch. I decorated cuppy cakes! I haven't done cake/cuppy cake decorating in probably over a year. I've done some cookies, but I had forgotten how much I enjoy doing cake stuff. I wish I had had more time to decorate a little more elaborately, but honestly, this still took a couple hours from start to finish.

I hope everyone likes them. I wish there were more, but I only made a single batch, and that's pretty much all it made with me munching on a couple, and saving a couple for Drew.

clarification and suggestions

I had a couple comments and a few emails on my blog header. Drew and I didn't get married in 1999, but met in 1999. We can keep it real while dating, right?! The marriage didn't come til 2002, and the baby carriage will soon follow, but not yet. :)

Speaking of baby carriage, is that the same as a stroller? And speaking of stollers, all you wise old mom's (haha j/k), what did you find you absolutely needed when you had kids vs. the fluff stuff that just seemed ridiculous afterward that you never used?

Cooookies!

This evening, there were some disturbing things on the internet. Since then, I have been an emotional wreck. I even cried over people on Gray's Anatomy. Paaathetic. :) And The Office? That episode was awful. Since I was all sorts of emotional, sweet Drew cleaned the kitchen for me and I made chocolate chip cookies. Man, I love those guys. There's not much better than (a) warm out of the oven chocolate chip cookie (s....sssssss) with milk! Yum, Yum, Yum

We finally got cable today. There seems to be some kind of interference from the cable wires connecting the digital box with the projector, so if the cable is hooked up, then there's a buzz on the stereo. It's making me pretty ticked off. I'm hoping that we can figure out a way around it tomorrow when we're both a little more alert. At least there's some channels in the bedroom, so when I can't sleep, I'll have some kind of entertainment. Yay! Too bad it's basic, but at least it's something, eh? I think it'll definitely be used at nights more come this summer for some reason.

Here's and There's

I should fill out a title once I'm done with a blog, because at the beginning, most of the time I have no idea what I'm going to write about. For example, today at work, I decided I was going to give my kiddos a good dose of 3rd grade writing expectations. We sat at the overhead projector for more than an hour coming up with a story about a dragon. Man, it was pretty awesome. It was a boy dragon named alex that had pink horns, painted his sharp toenails sparkly green, and breathed rainbow fire. He was still a baby dragon, so we didn't discuss mating. LOL I'm sitting there, writing this all down for the kids when BOOM, my projector turns off, and won't turn back on the rest of the day. I was kind of ticked. The end.

Now a story about Drew. Drew has late classes this semester. I hate them. I've gotten used to seeing him within a couple hours of me getting off work, if not, at the same time. Lexy is as well. Lexy is so attached to Drew that she SITS at the door for quite a while waiting for him to come in. It takes almost an hour for her to realize he's not coming in the door for her to go back to bed. She doesn't acknowledge me at all, except to go feed her her medicine induced food. But once Drew is home....oh ho ho! That's a completely different story. She's all about the following around and mooing like she has been SAVED! I'm a horrible parent.

(note: ignore the mess. I'm no good at cleaning anymore. OH! Or the uncalibrated lighting. Once again, way too lazy to fix it so it looks decent.)

I also cooked a quiche tonight. I'm not quite sure if I cooked it all the way. Last time, I used a deeper dish pan. I need to remember not to use such a shallow pan next time. I also hope I don't make myself sick, because I'd definitely rather get sick off of cookie dough than quiche.

So, NEXT Friday, we find out if the monster is a boy or girl. It doesn't seem real to me at all. Even though I am getting totally violated by punching and kicking that I did not say OK to. Meany.

One last thing. We were driving into Salem on Saturday, and everything was covered in frost. It reminded me of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. It was very pretty, and made me want to eat turkish delight. hahaha

Hair Cuts

I have issues with hair cuts. I have had very few that have turned out the way I want them to. I had a lady down in Utah that did a decent job on my hair, but it's been a constant struggle since we've moved up here. I call around and ask if they know how to cut curly hair, and most everyone- thankfully they're pretty honest- tells me no. I found one lady- to my surprise at a $10/haircut place that did it, and did a fabulous job. I was amazed. So I went back to her a 2nd time and it was pretty good.

This weekend, I needed my hair cut pretty bad- it was getting yucky, and I went to the same place and realized the lady wasn't there. Soooo I had another lady cut it. I told her what I wanted, and said that it works best if you don't brush out the hair, and you keep it dry. So she proceeds to tell me that it's just easier to cut when it's brushed out and then proceeds to spray all this water in my hair. I WAS PISSED. SERIOUSLY PISSED. Then she proceeds to tell me that she thinks I want it to short. I said, well, thankfully, it's my hair, and I want it that short. Well, she showed me! When she was done, it's still 3 inches longer than I asked her to cut off, and her excuse? ..."well, when it curls back up, it'll be shorter." ------frankly my dear, if you had cut it correctly the first time, we wouldn't be havig this discussion. So she's all, "will it work for you?" and I said, "well, it's going to have to." - I paid my money, no tip, and huffed out of there. I was not going to sit in that lady's chair and proceed to be told what I wanted anymore.

So here is my quest. I need a person to cut my hair. I need someone that is consistently there, and knows how to cut insanely curly hair. If any one has ANY idea of how to get this done, please, please, please let me know. I've had it with idiots. She didn't even cut it straight. gah. I could have done a better job at home with a knife.

I found the *Perfect* accessory to having a child. After these pictures, how could I NOT get this awesome contraption!

Nevermind the crib, clothing (obviously optional, even for mom), and toys. All you need is this bad boy! I'm getting me one of MONDAY! CAN'T WAIT!

Weeeeekendsss

I barely slept last night. Holy moly- I have never not slept at least half the night away before, what gives? I literally sat there for hours upon hours with my eyes open. They didn't even want to be shut. How obnoxious.

I am knitting a blanket that is taking FOR-EV-ER. It's a fine thread and 3 billion stitches per row, and an intricate pattern. Never again. I've been working on it for over 4 or 5 months, can't even remember now, and not even half way done. I have got to get going. I guess good thing for new seasons of tv shows so I can push myself to knit while I watch tv at least?! Go motivation! hahaha

Man, I don't have any new pictures to share. Maybe tomorrow after I sleep as much as humanly possible. Alls I can say is, thank goodness for a 3 day weekend. Hallelujah!

Why I love Goonies

I just couldn't resist

Stop Touching MEEEEEEE!!!

Since about Saturday? (a little before then, but that's a definite day) little devil decided to grow some legs. I have been kicked. Do. Not. Like. Nope, nope, nope. Although, for some reason, I am also fascinated with it. Yesterday, I didn't feel like I had felt anything all day, and actually fell asleep while watching movies waiting for something. Well, turns out, even if this devil is the size of a turnip, it must have legs 3 times as long as their body. I got woken up on 3 separate occasions of being pestered, and every single time, I woke up thinking, and almost said to Drew- LEAVE ME ALONE! I'M SLEEPING!- to then wake up enough to realize there's not a dang thing I could do about it. Totally freaky, mutant stuff. Way weird. That doesn't even count the bathroom breaks. I woke up almost crying out of sleep deprivation (already, don't laugh) and asked Drew if I was ever going to sleep through a night again in my life. He said no. Meany.

Funny thing at work though. I have a red-headed little kiddo in my class that I love to death, but sometimes they are quite the pesterer- so anyway, I got a picture of them pretending to have horns on their head. LOL I couldn't resist.

I've also drunk so much chocolate milk since I've been home that I doubt I'll be making dinner tonight. Good thing there's leftovers from yesterday, and Drew doesn't get out of class til 9pm, so I'm kind of off the hook. I'm also not exercising today since I think I have re-aggravated my ITBS deal...I should really go back to physical therapy...

I have some fun pictures to share, but since this is a public blog, I'm not going to post any pics of school kids, so you'll just have to use your imagination. :D

Nothin New

I haven't posted in a while, but honestly, not a whole lot has changed. We went to the doctor on Tuesday. Man, that doc is weird. I got him to crack a smile though when I told him I was mutating. We got to hear the ickle heartbeat, but that was it. I wish they'd do ultrasounds ALL THE TIMES! Speaking of ultrasounds, we have our appt. set up on the 30th to go check all the bits out. Hopefully they'll cooperate. Knowing it's my spawn though (pretty sure, crossing fingers, waiting on DNA testing), it probably won't. ;) Probably sit there screaming and gnashing it's teeth the entire time.

I don't have any new pictures or fun stories, so I guess that's about it. Oh- one good thing- Drew passed law school again- only one more time!!!

Maternity Shirts and Chicken Bones

I am having quite the time finding maternity shirts that I like. Yeah, I guess some are cute, but you have to be completely immodest to wear them. My cousin in-law suggested some things, and I surprisingly have upped my inventory to TWO now, but I'm feeling the need to actually need some here for reals in the next few weeks.

Soooo, with that being said, any suggestions on MODEST maternity shirts that you can actually wear to work? Here's where I've tried (and I think it's going to be a try, try, try again until I find what I like)- Motherhood Maternity, Old Navy, Target, Motherhood Maternity Outlet, ModBe online, Nordstrom Maternity online, and a few other random online places.

*One nice thing- I was able to find 2 dresses, a pair of pants and 1 shirt today at the outlet. I'll have to get another dress when spring time stuff comes out though- all these clothes ended up being black (well, pants were DARK brown)- so I'm set if anyone else dies and I have to mourn their loss. :)

On a funny topic, we had DELICIOUS KFC last night for dinner- I just couldn't resist. So anyway, Lexy normally is all over eating her soft food delight every 12 hours chalk full of medicine she's unaware of, but last night, she was pining for that oh so delicious KFC as much as we were! Infact, last night, after we were done eating, and quietly asleep, she somehow used her acrobatic moves to get some bones out of the garbage and brought them into our bedroom so she could snack and still keep an eye on us to make sure we didn't leave her again. Hilarious!
