Shots and Furniture

Princess Unicorn Rainbow went to the doctor on Friday for her 2 month old shots. I think she handled it like a champ, and I think I did, too! I was getting a bit upset there at the end, but consoling her calmed her down quickly, so it made me feel better. Next time I'll take the doctor's advice and drug her up before we come in ;)

Friday was also her 2 month old birthday! So we had to take a picture with Blaire, the hippo for comparisons later. She has definitely gotten bigger, longer, and less wrinkled. Speaking of bigger and longer, she was 23.5" long, and 12 lbs. 11 ounces. Both of which were in the 90th percentile. Her brains were off the charts on smarts. LOL :) She's smiling tons for us, and coos all the time- I am loving it!

2 months old with Blaire, the hippo :)

As some of you know, there's been some minor complications when it comes to Drew's job that haven't been in our favor. This had led us to some searching and praying to figure out what to do. On Thursday, I was given the opportunity to go back to work full time. I didn't give them an answer right away and ended up calling up Drew, bawling the whole time about it. In the end, I have decided to take the position even though it was the VERY last thing I expected. It is the right thing to do, even if I don't want to do it.

The problem with this position is that at the end of this last school year, I was expecting (if anything) to come back part-time. This allowed me to be fairly lenient with the furniture I had accumulated over the last couple of years. I try not to be attached to things and was OK seeing it go. Once I got called back to part-time status, I got a few pieces of furniture that were deemed "mine" from other teachers that had stuck their claim on them. I was pretty happy with the way things were going. Now that I'm going full time, there seems to be a short supply of furniture. I can't take everything that was mine out of my former co-teacher's classroom- that would be absolutely cruel to leave someone else with nothing. But I also don't even have a full set of desks in my classroom for students. I spent several hours on Friday trying to hunt down furniture and came up with a teaching desk from one of the schools. I still don't have enough desks for students nor chairs. I don't have any tables for them to sit at during literacy and math groups. I don't have any bookcases for teaching books OR for student books. I have no tables for computers. I have no student computers (I don't have a teaching computer, but I know where to get that). I don't even have a filing cabinet OR any curriculum. This my friends, is WORSE than a teaching starting out their first year. This is just a disaster.

AND to top it all off- I took Drew with me to move boxes from the dungeon room to the other side of the school and the door to my old room was locked. I decided to go and put up paper over the ugly chalk boards in my new classroom and my keys didn't work!!! I ended up crying the whole way home. I sure hope Monday goes better than today did, otherwise, I might have a breakdown, and no one wants to see that.

On the plus side, I have a happy, healthy baby that I love dearly!

We scared her to try to get a picture of her picture perfect frowny- this picture doesn't even do it justice.

She was SO happy!

Fell asleep screaming, so I left her!

OH Mads. :( Hang in there. Wow. I wish I had a magic wand to wave and make everything all right. That's a lot to deal with all at one time, isn't it? And hang on a sec-- isn't it the school's job to make sure there are enough desks? Good gravy! I guess it's a good thing that you have a job, but also so sad for you to have to leave your little bug. Will Drew be Mr. Mom for a while? I don't know what's going on with his job, but I'm so sorry. If there is ANYTHING we can do to help, please let me know. HUGS!!

That frownie face is great. hehehe You could get it on video!

As for furniture...and you hit your old room where the vulture is now? Can you see if you can find some cheap book cases at yard sales or do they have a DI type store up there? I wish I could send you money for some things.
